Competing to build the best sub sandwich

-

The New London County Historical Society will host the second annual Submarine Sandwich Building Competition on April 29 at Groton Inn and Suites in Groton. The event will consist of a dozen chefs competing to win the "Coveted Golden Meatball Award."

Last year's two local winners competed at the world food competition, and one placed fourth overall in the sandwich contest and has been invited back to the world event this year.

Chefs interested in taking part in the April 24 event should contact the society by emailing nlhistory.org or calling (860) 443-1209.

Admission for the public is $30, which gets an individual a seat and two tasting tickets. More tasting tickets are sold for people who want to sample more sandwiches. The event runs 1-4 p.m. at Groton Inn and Suites, 99 Goldstar Highway, Groton.

Proceeds benefit the preservation and education mission of the New London County Historical Society.
