The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT is calling all tourism-industry businesses and employees to ride on a free bus trip to Hartford on Monday, April 24, as part of Connecticu­t’s Tourism Advocacy Day. The Chamber of Commerce and The Day have partnered to present Eastern CT’s Spring Job Fair on Monday, April 24, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa, 625 North Road, Groton. Job-seeker resources include seminars and workshops, Veterans’ Affairs Division of the Department of Labor representa­tives, and resume review and interview technique coaching with Chap Hanley, VP/ GM of Atlantic Broadband’s Connecticu­t properties. The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT will host its annual “State of Montville” update on Tuesday, May 2, 7:45 to 9 a.m. at Montville Town Hall, 310 Norwich-New London Turnpike, Uncasville. Speakers included Mayor Ron McDaniel, Superinten­dent of Public Schools Brian Levesque, and Mohegan Tribal Council Chairman Kevin Brown. RIBBON CUTTING

The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebratin­g the recent renovation­s to Minuteman Press’ downtown New London location and new apartments on Wednesday, April 26, 10 to 11 a.m. at 147 State St. Minuteman’s office space and upstairs apartments have been reinvigora­ted top to bottom by Advanced Improvemen­ts. Tours of the refreshed spaces and light refreshmen­ts will be offered. There is no cost to attend this event and no need to RSVP. NETWORKING

The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT will co-host a Business After Hours networking event on Wednesday, May 3, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Joshua’s Limousine Service in Gales Ferry in cooperatio­n with the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce. Admission is $10 for Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT members, $20 for non-members, and includes compliment­ary refreshmen­ts, hors d’oeuvres, and entry into the evening’s door prize drawing. WORKSHOPS

Promote Yourself to Success is being launched at Stonington High School and Ella Grasso Tech. Area experts in curriculum building and human resources, including Moira Deasy, executive director of Train Worldwide, Kateri Wheeler, director of human resources for Mystic Aquarium, and Susan Evarts, catering sales manager for Foxwoods Resort Casino, have developed the program. Mystic area business owners and employers will teach each of the threehour long sessions.

The course objectives are to promote understand­ing of what employers look for in new hires; to coach how to present a profession­al image and how to stand out among peers; and to teach customer service skills. Each workshop will end with a panel discussion among area business people who expect to hire summer workers. They will be asked to share their individual perspectiv­es and to answer questions the students may have.

The students will receive a certificat­e of completion and a list of Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce members as job leads.
