Waterford — With his loving wife by his side, Eduardo Aledia, 80, of Quaker Hill, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017.

Ed was born in Manila, Philippines on Jan. 5, 1937. After joining the Navy at the age of 26, he traveled to the United States where he was stationed in San Diego, Calif.

It was on a blind date that he met and proposed to his future bride, Judith Watrous. They married on April 7, 1963, in New London, and spent the next 54 years inseparable and deeply in love. Together, they raised two wonderful sons, Eddie and Jon. Ed proudly became a United States citizen in September of 1966. He was previously employed as a chef at the 99 Restaurant, and later worked at Pfizer as an assistant foreman for 30 years, retiring in 1993. Ed and Judy later moved to Four Lakes in Winter Haven, Fla. There, he enjoyed his retirement playing golf as often as possible and forming many special friendships.

Ed’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He wanted nothing more than to bring happiness to those he loved. He was a very involved and devoted father who never missed an opportunity to show his sons how proud they made him. His grandchildren were his special treasures. They cherished their LoLo, who made them the best fried chicken nuggets and eggs and rice. He taught them to find the joy in the little things, and made each of them feel as if they were the most loved and supported person on earth.

Many knew Ed as such a kind and gentle soul with a spirited sense of humor. No one ever left his presence without a smile and a fun story to tell. He made this world a better place with his genuine love and concern for others.

Ed will be forever loved and deeply missed by his wife, Judith; son, Eddie, and daughterin-law, Mary; grandchildren, Jalen, Edward, Christian, and Mackenzie; brother-in-law, Richard Watrous; nephew, Rick Watrous and niece, Fannie Chua, both of whom he loved as his own; sister, Medy; daughter-in-law, Bernadette Bolognese and her two sons, Dominic and Anthony; and the many close friends whose support he greatly appreciated.

Ed was predeceased by his son, Jonathon, Aug. 21, 2013.

Private services were held in Florida and the Philippines.
