Security threads are embedded in the paper of the bill and run vertically through the clear field to the left of the Federal Reserve Seal. On authentic bills, it should be easily visible when held up to light.

Watermarks are located on the face of the bill on the right side. Hold the bill up to a light to check for a watermark bearing the image of the person whose portrait is on the bill; it is embedded to the right of the portrait and should be visible from both sides of the bill. Such watermarks can be found on all $10, $20, $50 and $100 bills series 1996 and later, and on $5 bills series 1999 and later.

André J. Messier, chairman of the Board of Directors of Eastern Savings Bank announced the appointment Thursday. Griffin succeeds Kenneth Dyer, the former CEO, who resigned April 28.

Griffin joined Eastern in 2004 and since 2014 has been the executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Messier also cited her “strong community ties,” including serving as vice chairman of the board of directors of the Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce and serving in leadership positions in various professional associations. She also served as president and director of the New England Financial Marketing Association.
