BLUE MONDAY CONCERT SERIES BEGINS JULY 3 IN MYSTIC WATERFORD GREEN PARTY ENDORSES CANDIDATES FOR NOVEMBER ELECTION

Mystic — The 14th annual Blue Monday outdoor blues concert series, which has raised $110,000 for the Pawcatuck Neighborho­od Center food pantry and music education in Stonington’s public schools, will resume July 3 in Mystic River Park with a performanc­e by Kat Wright and the Indomitabl­e Soul Band.

The free concerts run from 6 to 8 p.m. each Monday through July 31.

Concertgoe­rs are asked to bring a jar of peanut butter or other canned goods to each concert for the food bank.

The lineup of performers after July 3 is July 10, Darrell Nulisch; July 17, Kenny Neal; July 24, The Hoolios and Sondra Levine and July 31 Sugar Ray and the Bluetones. Rain location is the Mystic German Club. More informatio­n is on the Blue Monday Facebook page.

Waterford – The town’s Green Party has endorsed five candidates for the municipal election in November.

They are Kevin Kelly for the Board of Finance, Billy Gene Collins for the Zoning Board of Appeals, Baird Welch-Collins for Representa­tive Town Meeting District 2, Joshua Steele Kelly for RTM District 3, and Carl D’Amato for RTM District 4. Welch-Collins and Kelly are co-founders of the town’s Green Party.

Since winning its first seat in town government in the 2015 election, the Waterford Green Party has seen increased participat­ion. Since the 2015 election, it gained two more seats on town boards and commission­s and had two members become justices of the peace. There is also an increase in the number of Green Party candidates running for office in 2017.

Candidates endorsed by the party will be meeting within the next few weeks to formalize their platforms. BoatBuildi­ng, where families and teams work to build their own pre-purchased kits during the weekend. Work begins at 9 a.m. Friday and ends around 3 p.m. Sunday.

New this year will be deck tours of the Viking ship Draken Harald Hårfagre, a reconstruc­ted longship that sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in 2016.

Tours will run throughout the show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tours cost $6 per person. Tickets are available at the ship and at www. drakenshop.com. The ticket is in addition to regular admission to Mystic Seaport.
