Bentley back with Sun

Guard Alex Bentley has returned to the Connecticu­t Sun after participat­ing in the FIBA EuroBasket Women’s Tournament. Rookie guard Feyonda Fitzgerald was waived to make room on the 12-woman roster.

Bentley, who holds a dual passport, represente­d Belarus in the tournament. She averaged 14 points, 4.3 assists and four rebounds in three games during group play.

Fitzgerald saw limited minutes in two games during Bentley’s absence. She had four rebounds and one assist in eight minutes.

Connecticu­t (5-5) has won four straight games and five of its last six. It plays at the New York Liberty on Friday night at Madison Square Garden (7:30).

Tigers win

• The Connecticu­t Tigers led 4-0 after four innings and held on to beat the Aberdeen IronBirds 6-3 in a New York-Penn. League game. Isrrael De La Cruz had a run-scoring single and Hector Martinez a two-run single in the third inning and Will Savage’s RBI single in the fourth gave the Tigers (2-0) a 4-0 lead. Ariel Serrano had a two-run triple in the bottom of the fifth for the Tigers and starting pitcher Tom De Blok allowed one hit over 3.2 innings with five strikeouts and on e walk.

American Legion Zone 6

• Kyle Kobyluck scattered two hits over 6.1 innings with two earned runs and two strikeouts as Waterford beat Norwich, 5-2. Alex Petchark and Tyler Yeomans both had a single, run and an RBI for Waterford. Also, Justin Keating, Nicholas Porazzi and Mike Rocchetti all singled and scored. Ben Cathcart scored twice for Norwich and Jack Espinoza had a single and RBI.

• New London suffered its first loss of the season, losing to unbeaten Willimanti­c 6-4 on Tuesday night. Winning pitcher Brody Labbe had an RBI single in the top of the seventh inning to break a 4-4 tie and came around to score for Willimanti­c (60). Jeremy Santos, Hendrik Khoury and Elijah Martinez had doubles for New London (9-1).

District 10 softball (11-12)

• Aaliyah Amidon pitched a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts as Ledyard beat New London 17-3. Amidon also had two singles, a grand slam, scored three runs and drove in five. Sohie Allen had two hits and scored three times and Sarah Mann and Samantha Marcotte had two hits reach for Ledyard. Ashley Droz, Alexis Rose and J’zaria Hazard scored runs and Dasani Brown drove in a run for New London.

• Charlotte Cabral pitched a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Groton/Mystic beat Lyme/Old Lyme 11-2 on Tuesday. Annalyn Cahill had two hits for Groton/Mystic. Jamie Bucior pitched five innings and had a hit for Lyme/Old Lyme.
