Matthew Perry (Pisacich)

Groton — Matthew V. Perry (Pisacich), 85, of Windham Falls and Cromwell, passed away at Fairview Nursing Home in Groton on Tuesday, June 27, 2017.

He was born on Jan. 31, 1932, in Duquesne, Pa. He was the son of the late Mato Pisacich and Mary Stuljan Pisacich, who emigrated from Croatia in the 1920s. Matt was one of five children.

Matt was a graduate of Duquesne High School and Waynesburg College in Pennsylvan­ia. He was the first in the family to attend college. He was a trailblaze­r in the family and was an adviser for family and all whom he contacted.

Matt had a varied and busy career. He graduated with a degree in chemistry and spent many years in chemical research & developmen­t and marketing. Some of the many companies that Matt worked for included Geigy Chemical, National Cash Register, Sherwin Williams, Desoto Inc., etc. He even dabbled in running a cosmetics company in Chicago.

Matt’s mid-life career transition­ed to the financial services industry. He held financial service positions in many of the major firms. His primary hobby was playing and/or organizing bridge clubs in his social circle. He was also the author of “The fourteen lives of Matt Perry.”

He is survived by brothers, Bernard and sister-in-law, Judith Pisacich, of Waterford and Edward and Mary (Kocha) Pisacich of Surprise, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews.

He is predecease­d by sisters, Anna Pisacich and Katherine Gorscak (Pisacich).

The family wishes to thank the staff and management at Fairview for the quality of care provided.

A family celebratio­n of Matt’s life will be held at a future date.
