Groton — June (Holmgren) Franciosi, 95, of Groton, passed away at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital on Friday, June 30, 2017, as a result of a fall at Eastern Point Beach on Thursday, June 22.

She was born on Dec. 5, 1921, in New London, the daughter of John and Bessie (O’Keefe) Holmgren. June is survived by her husband, Louis. After ten years of dating, they were married on Sept. 25, 1948 in New London. She was a graduate of Chapman Tech and excelled in sports.

She was very active and appeared much younger than her age and had a zest for life that was an inspiratio­n to all who knew and loved her. She was affectiona­tely referred to as Ma June or June Bug.

She was the owner of June’s Antiques, and she and her husband had a booth at the Brimfield Flea Market for over 35 years. She loved bowling, enjoyed her weekly bowling league in Groton and won many awards over the years. Her other passions were shopping, dancing, and gardening in her beautiful yard which was a source of pride to her. She enjoyed cooking and always had something made if anyone dropped in.

She is also survived by her three children, Jacqueline Ricci, and her husband, Frank, James Franciosi and his wife, Karen and John Franciosi; two grandchild­ren she adored, Danielle and John Michael Franciosi; and her brother, Thomas Holmgren.

She was predecease­d by twelve brothers and sisters.

The family would like to thank the health care providers at L+M Hospital, Dr. Doherty, and the wonderful nurses in CCU for their compassion­ate care and keeping our spirits up during this difficult time.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2017, at Sacred Heart Church, 56 Sacred Heart Drive, Groton. Her family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton. Interment will follow at Colonel Ledyard Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in June’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or a charity of your choice.
