Waterford takes series to the limit

Forces winner-take-all game with East Lyme for Dist. 10 (10-11) title

East Lyme — Waterford forced a deciding game for the District 10 Little League 10-11-year old baseball championsh­ip with a 4-3 victory over East Lyme on Monday night.

Waterford evened the best-ofthree series at 1-1, and the title will be decided in Game 3 on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., also at East Lyme.

Matt Ory pitched four solid innings for Waterford, the No. 3 seed, while Nate DePerry had a two-run single. Quinn Killoy drove in a pair of runs for top-seeded East Lyme.

District 10 LL baseball (11-12)

• Mystic advanced to the championsh­ip series with a 6-2 victory over East Lyme in Sunday night's semifinals. Jose Rodriguez had three hits and drove in two runs, Jackson LaLima had a home and two RBI, Gabe Morton doubled and drove in two runs and winning pitcher Dylan Meyer struck out five for Mystic, which will face Waterford in the best-of-three championsh­ip series beginning Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Waterford. Chris Stevens had two hits, including a homer, and Anthony Enos had a single and double for East Lyme.

State Babe Ruth (15)

• Waterford's eliminatio­n game against Norwalk in the Connecticu­t Babe Ruth 15-year-old baseball tournament was postponed by rain in Newtown. The game will be played at 4 p.m. Tuesday, with the winner advancing to a Wednesday losers' bracket game against New Milford at 4 p.m. New Milford ousted Amity 5-1 in the only game played Monday.

American Legion Zone 6

• Elijah Martinez and Connor McCrea each hit doubles in a threerun 16th inning as New London beat Danielson 4-1 in the continuati­on of a suspended game. Hendrik Khoury allowed two hits and a run over six innings for the win. The game was scoreless after 10 innings when the game was suspended.

Connor McCrea pitched a two-hitter with one earned run and 11 strikeouts as New London beat Danielson 5-2 in the regularly-scheduled game. Khoury and Martinez both hit RBI singles for New London and Robert Parra and McCrea each had a sacrifice fly.

Local golf

• Noah Straub of Norwich Golf Course qualified for the 32-player match play portion of the 78th Connecticu­t Junior Amateur at Watertown Golf Club. Straub tied for seventh with a 2-over-par 73 during the 18-hole medal play qualifying round. He is seeded eighth and will play No. 25 James Bosworth of Hope Meadow in today's first round at 7:48 a.m. The second round will follow with the quarterfin­als and semifinals scheduled for Wednesday and the championsh­ip match set for Thursday.
