Documentaries on health
It’s a rare breed that consistently wants to eat healthily. Even though everybody might wish they had that drive, it’s a hard thing to achieve and it’s even harder to maintain. But people can capitalize on a free local opportunity to receive an education that might aid this healthy mindset. On Saturday night, as a free portion of Keto Fest, a ketogenic diet festival, the Garde Arts Center will show two health documentaries. The screening, which is open to the public, features “The Widowmaker,” an investigation into heart attack causes and preventative measures, and “Fat Head,” a documentary about the high-fat, low-carb ketogenic diet.
(The ketogenic diet restructures nutrient intake to force the body to burn fat rather than carbohydrates as its primary energy source.)
Keto Festival, which will run Friday through Sunday on The Parade in New London, will offer a menu of keto diet options, cooking practicums and fitness classes; a weekend pass for the festival costs $250. The festival is sponsored by HeadsUp Health, a health documentation and workout statistic online amalgamation program, and Keto & Co., a ketogenic food supplier.
