The Board of Directors of Charter Oak Federal Credit Union has appointed Gary P. Brochu to serve on its Supervisor­y Committee, which has oversight and audit responsibi­lities for Charter Oak’s seven-member Board of Directors.

Brochu, who is a resident of Oakdale, serves as the manager of contracts and finance with General Dynamics’ Electric Boat division, where he has held numerous supervisor­y and management positions over the past 25 years, including chief of finance, financial systems analyst, senior financial analyst, and supervisor of various trades working in the shipyard.

In addition, Brochu’s past corporate experience includes working with Alstom Power as a senior project accounting analyst, ADC Broadband Communicat­ions as a senior cost accountant, and Fisher Controls as a cost and business analyst. Brochu’s past experience also includes working as a senior accountant with Ensign Bickford.

GRAND OPENINGS

The Greater Norwich Area Chamber of Commerce will hold a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Assured Quality Homecare, 282 Franklin St.

The agency employs, trains and equips caregivers who work with elderly residents in New London County to remain in their homes. The new office in downtown Norwich will allow the agency to increase support staff for caregivers and provide opportunit­ies for the caregivers to specialize in areas of care, such as Alzheimer’s hospice home care and fall prevention.

Westerly Community Credit is increasing the amount to be awarded in the WCCU Teacher Grant Program this coming school year. This program will now be awarding $7,000 in grants, in values up to $500, for the 2017/18 school year. WCCU Teacher Grants are available to teachers, administra­tors or staff from the following school districts: Chariho, Narraganse­tt, South Kingstown, Stonington, and Westerly.
