East Lyme — Keith Andrew “Beefa” Hall, 51, of East Lyme, husband of Andrea (Massad) Hall, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 23, 2017, at home and surrounded by his family.

He was born in Norwich on Jan. 26, 1966, the son of Raymond “Pete” and Nancy Hall of Niantic. He was a 1984 graduate of Ledyard High School, where he built friendships that remain strong to this day. He continued his education at Lafayette College, graduating in 1988, and followed that with an MBA from the University of Connecticut.

His most proud moments came from being a dad to Brandon and Marissa of East Lyme. He enjoyed watching them mature into the individuals they are today, and especially cherished his solo time with “B” and his “Daddy/ Rissy” times.

As a civil engineer, his 29-year career at the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation in Newington spanned the Bridge Design and Facilities Design units. He recently retired from his position as a transportation supervising engineer.

An avid sports spectator and participant, Keith enjoyed playing tennis, attending football games, playing golf (especially in his league and at the annual Cape Cod reunion), and playing basketball and softball with his group of “village idiots.” Since childhood, spending time with his family at the cabin in Maine topped his summertime “to-do” list.

Besides his wife, children and parents, Keith is survived by his sister, Jennifer Hall Anderson and her husband, Eric, and their children, Laney and Alec, of Largo, Fla.; brotherin-law, Stephen Massad and his partner, Bolivar Gonzalez; brother-in-law, Gregory Massad and his wife, Kristin, and their children, Alexa, Erica, Matthew, Olivia and Sophia; and his nephew, Stephen and his wife, Jennie, and daughter, Amelia. Keith also leaves behind five godchildren, Caitlin, Ethan, Jenna, Sophia and Walker.

Keith enjoyed working in the community. Born with the genetic disorder, Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, Keith worked tirelessly to assist those more severely afflicted. He held various positions in the national organization, and served as chairman of the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance during their 40th anniversary year (2014) which included the World TSC Conference, and a play titled “Four Decades/ One Community.” Keith was also a member of the Inland Wetlands Agency for the Town of East Lyme, most recently serving as chairman.
