Laramee Buckley

East Lyme — Laramee “Larry” Joseph Buckley, age 80, formerly of East Lyme and Melbourne, Fla., passed on Friday evening at the home of his daughter, Shannon Buckley of East Haddam.

He was born in Willimanti­c Sept. 2, 1936, the son of Louise Laramee and James A. Buckley. He married Ann Marie Elizabeth Langlois in Willimanti­c on Aug. 7, 1971. She predecease­d him on April 8, 2016.

Mr. Buckley served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1957. In 1962 he graduated from Willimanti­c State College with a bachelor’s degree in science. He obtained his master’s degree from Clark University in 1990. He was employed as a teacher for the Waterford public school system, first at Southwest Elementary School and then Clark Lane Junior High, retiring in 1995.

He is survived by three daughters, Shannon Buckley of East Haddam, Heidi Ray of Waterford, and Julie Mazet of Palm Desert, Calif. He has two grandchild­ren, Daniel and Stephanie Ray, and was predecease­d by his grandson, Scottie Goldman, brother William Buckley and sister Therese Kaar.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons East Lyme Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday in the Flanders Baptist and Community Church, Route 1, East Lyme, with interment to follow with military honors in Jordan Cemetery, Waterford.
