Black Wolves trade star goalie Kirk to Saskatchew­an.

Mohegan — The New England Black Wolves announced Tuesday that they traded record-setting goalie Evan Kirk to the Saskatchew­an Rush.

In exchange for Kirk, the Wolves received goalie Aaron Bold, transition player John LaFontaine, plus the the No. 8 overall pick in the 2017 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft and a second-round pick in the 2018 draft.

Kirk, the 2016 NLL Goalie of the Year, saw action in 70 games for the franchise over four seasons, compiling a record of 26-32 while picking up 2,385 saves. His 676 saves in 2017 were a franchise record, eclipsing his previous mark of 620, set in 2016.

The No. 6 overall pick by the Minnesota Swarm in the 2011 draft, Kirk signed a twoyear contract extension with the Black Wolves on July 26, although no terms were released.

In 2017, Bold compiled a record of 11-4 in goal for the Rush, stopping 565 shots with a goals-against average of 11.22. In 12 NLL seasons, he has 3,776 saves in 179 career games. A three-time member of the NLL All-Pro Second Team, Bold has a career mark of 71-39.

LaFontaine saw action in 15 games for the Rush last season, picking up five points on one goal and four assists. He also scooped up a career-best tying 39 loose balls while causing 10 turnovers.

Spinners blank Tigers

• Tanner Houck, Denyi Reyes and Dominic LoBrutto combined on a four-hit shutout as the Lowell Spinners downed the Connecticu­t Tigers 3-0 in a New York-Penn League game before 1,710 at Dodd Stadium. Reyes allowed all four hits in five innings of relief with two strikeouts to earn the win for the Spinners (18-22) and Charlie Madden had two hits, including an RBI double. Also, Nicholos Hamilton and Raiwinson Lameda both singled and scored and Frankie Rios hit an RBI single. Matt Manning took the loss despite scattering just three hits over five innings with seven strikeouts and one earned run for the Tigers (19-19).

• Jeffrey Evanier (Clinton CC) and amateur Max Theodoraki­s (Ridgefield) share the lead heading into Wednesday's final round of the 83rd Connecticu­t Open at Ellington Ridge Country Club. Evanier carded back-to-back rounds of 67 over the par-72 course to finish at 10-under along with Theodoraki­s, who shot an 8-under 64 in the second round. Two players with ties to Black Hall Club in Old Lyme made the cut, which included 45 players at 2-over or better. Matt Smith, the current Black Hall assistant, and former assistant Adam Rainaud are tied for seventh at even-par 144. Smith followed a 73 with a 71 while Rainaud, the defending champion, fell off the pace with a 75 after shooting a 69 in the first round.
