Brian Munton
Waterford — Brian J. Munton, 57, passed away Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, after a lengthy battle with CREST Syndrome and a brief battle with cancer.
He was born on July 2, 1960, in New London, to John and Lois (Geaglone) Munton, who predeceased him.
He attended school in Montville. He retired after 26 years with the Town of Waterford Public Works Dept. as a mechanic.
Brian’s priorities in life were his family, of whom he was very proud, his love of cars and his best bud, Oscar the Wiener Dog. He was notorious for his sense of humor and selflessness.
Brian wanted to send a special thank you to Dr. Santhanam Lakshminarayanan, Division Chief of Rheumatology at UConn Health. Dr. Laks’ knowledge, care, understanding and friendship made the last 18 years the best possible for Brian. Also, thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital ICU and 5.2 unit.
Brian is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Fortier) of 33 years, his sons, Brian Jr. and fiancée, Stefania Illiano; Bradley and wife, Darcy; and Anthony and girlfriend, Samantha Brown. He is also survived by brothers, John (Anita) of Brunswick, Maine; Allen (Leigh) of Waterford; Thomas (Missy) of St. Marys, Ga.; and sisters, Marie Didlott of Brunswick, Ga.; Linda Bird (Steve) of St. Marys, Ga.; Tamra Eklund (Andy) of Yakima, Wash.; Sandra Sanders (Wayne) of Longview, Wash.; and Frances Campbell (Ron) of Spotsylvania, Va. He was predeceased by a brother, David, and mother-in-law, Cynthia Fortier. He is also survived by his father-inlaw, Harrison Fortier Sr., and brother-in-law, Harrison (Nancy) Fortier Jr. of Waterford.
Per Brian’s wishes there will not be a formal funeral service. There will be a memorial service at a date to be announced in the future.
