VEHICLE STOLEN IN NEW LONDON FOUND IN NEW YORK STATE
New London — A woman suffered minor injuries Wednesday when a man drove away her truck while she was loading furniture into it, dragging her for a short distance. City police said late Wednesday the vehicle was recovered in Westchester County, N.Y.
Westchester County Department of Public Safety officials recovered the vehicle about 9 p.m., according to a release from New London police. Christian Guzman, 28, was operating the stolen vehicle, which was reported to have been involved in an accident with a Westchester County public safety vehicle, the release said. Charges are pending, the release said.
The 43-year-old Stonington woman was loading a table she purchased at HomeGoods on
hearing. He claimed the decade of special parole he will serve upon his release from prison constitutes "double jeopardy." While on special parole, he would be supervised in the community by the Department of Correction and would be subject to re-incarceration if he fails to comply with the conditions of his release.
The public defender reviewed the motion and filed a brief indicating there was no legal basis for Mims' claim and Mims would not be able to have a public defender. Mims said he would like a continuance so that he could look for a lawyer.
