Daniel Joyce

Mystic — Daniel S. Joyce, 55, of Groton-Mystic, passed away on Friday, Aug. 25, 2017.

A graduate of Fitch Senior High School in 1980 and Central Connecticut State University in 1986, Dan proudly served in the CT Army National Guard from 1984-2004. He was employed at the Naval Submarine Support Facility New London as the Assistant Quality Assurance Officer until his passing.

He is survived by his fiancée, Betsy Wilson of Mystic; sister, Debora Pearson, husband, Chris, nephew, Ryan Apicelli, and predeceased by nephew, Daryn Apicelli of Groton; brother, Kevin Joyce, wife, Renee and niece, Megan of Lancaster, Mass.; sister, Karen Griffin, husband, Peter of Groton; two daughters, Danielle and Kristen Joyce of Clinton; and many aunts, uncles, cousins. Predeceased by his mother, Lorraine A. Joyce, and father, Victor E. Joyce.

Dan will always be remembered for his super-human strength hugs, a gentle soul, his warm smile and an enormous heart. He shared his love of boating, music and motorcycles with friends and family every day. We love you forever, We like you for always, As long as we are living, Our brother you will be. There will be a celebration of his life at his best friend’s restaurant, The Spot in Groton, at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31.
