John Minevich Jr.
Branford — John Alexander Minevich Jr., 71, formerly of Bridgeport, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017, at CT Hospice in Branford after a valiant struggle with cancer.
Mr. Minevich was born on June 19, 1946, in New London, the son of John and Clara (Bracci) Minevich. He honorably served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Okinawa, Japan, from 1972 to 1975 during the Vietnam War. Mr. Minevich received his bachelor’s degree from Quinnipiac University and was employed as a microbiologist at Bridgeport Hospital.
John was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed creating unique flies to catch trout. John loved to cook and shoot pool. John’s knowledge, wit and mastery of trivia was impressive.
Mr. Minevich is survived by his brother, Mark and wife, Robin Minevich; and nephews, Everett and Michael of Niantic, as well as his nephew, Jordan Hill and wife, Nikki, of Amherst, Mass.; also, his niece Samantha Heckman of Florida. He will be truly missed by his close family of co-workers at Bridgeport Hospital.
John was predeceased by his parents, John Sr. and Clara Minevich.
To honor John’s wishes, services will be private.
Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, New London, is handling the arrangements.
In his memory, donations may be made to Connecticut Hospice, whose care comforted him in his final days.
