Pawcatuck — Robert Leon Corbett, 81, of Lester Ave., Pawcatuck, passed away at his home on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017. He was the husband of the late Marjorie M. (LeClair) Corbett, who predecease­d him on Nov. 6, 2007.

Born in Milton, Mass., he was a son of the late John J. Corbett and Thelma L. Stern and her husband, Paul.

After graduation from Gardiner High School in Gardiner, Maine, Robert joined the U.S. Navy, where he served for three years during the Korean War. He married his beloved Marge on June 25, 1960, and together they had four children. He worked for many years at Electric Boat and upon retirement, went to work at Pfizer in security. Robert was a communican­t of St. Michael Church, where he served as a Eucharisti­c Minister, and was also a life member of the Pawcatuck Fire Department.

He will be dearly missed by his children, David (Cindy) and Daniel, all of Pawcatuck, James of Carolina, R.I., and Patricia Blake (Michael) of Pottsville, Pa.; five grandchild­ren; two great-grandchild­ren; a sister, Carol DiMartino; brothers, John and Jim; and many nieces and nephews. Robert was also predecease­d by his brother, Richard.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Trish Cass for her excellent care of both Bob and Marge.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7, at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Relatives and friends are also invited to attend a Funeral Liturgy at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary’s Church, 95 Main St., Stonington. There is no procession from the funeral home to the church. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Pawcatuck.
