Late goal lifts Waterford girls past Fitch 1-0

Waterford — Julia Florek scored on a free kick from 30 yards out with just seven minutes remaining as Waterford defeated Fitch 1-0 in a nonleague girls' soccer match on Wednesday night.

The Lancers (5-4) held an 8-2 edge in shots and goalie Skyler Henry made only one save to earn the shutout. Molly Bresnahan made five saves in goal for the Falcons (3-5-1). In other games: • Megan Larmann scored four minutes into the game in Ledyard's 1-0 win over Stonington. Delaney Gagnon had three saves for Ledyard (4-4). Hannah Lamb and Tori LoPresto each had one save for the Bears (1-8-1).

• Emma Morgan scored the lone goal for Wheeler in a 4-1 loss to Windham in an ECC Division III game. The Lions are 0-6-1, 0-5.

• Bullard-Havens scored three goals in the first half en route to a 4-1 win over Grasso Tech. Kelly Duarte scored the lone goal for Grasso in the final minute and goalie Cheyla Archer made 16 saves.

Boys

• Cheney Tech overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit with three second-half goals to defeat Grasso Tech 3-1 in the Connecticu­t Technical Conference. Kevin Vazquez scored for the Eagles (2-4) and goalie Joel Potter made 14 saves.

• Mariano Alarcon had a goal and two assists and Evan Socha scored twice as Norwich Tech won its second straight game, 6-1, over Vinal Tech in the CTC. Kevin Porras had a goal and an assist for Norwich Tech (2-5-1, 2-3) and Vincent Cote and Jarred Schrader both scored.

• MacDuffie rolled to a 7-2 win over Williams School. The Blues scored on an own goal in the first half and on a penalty kick by Jacob Marchesi in the second half after Harry Anselmi was fouled in the penalty area.
