GOLD STAR BRIDGE LANE CLOSED BECAUSE OF CRASH IN GROTON

Groton — Crews closed a lane of the Gold Star Memorial Bridge for about an hour Monday morning following a crash that happened just beyond Exit 86.

State Department of Transportation officials said the wreck on Interstate 95 south involved three cars and happened just

before 8:30 a.m. Crews closed the right lane while they worked to clear the crash and reopened it by 9:30 a.m.

Traffic quickly backed up in the area, where a couple left lanes already are closed for construction work.

I-95 RAMPS IN OLD LYME TO CLOSE THIS WEEK

Old Lyme — The state Department

of Transportation’s contractor is planning on closing the following ramps on Interstate 95 this week, Monday night through Friday night, as needed for the installation of guide rail and the cleaning of catch basins, according to a notice on the town of Old Lyme’s website:

I-95 North Exit 71 On and Off Ramp

I-95 North Exit 72 Off Ramp

I-95 South Exit 72 On and Off Ramp.

The ramps will not be closed at the same time and any closures are expected to take place between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., the notice states. Message boards will be in place 24 hours in advance.

DOT has been working on a project for safety improvements to the ramps.
