New London — Ulysses Q. Williamson, 33, of New London, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017.

He was born July 29, 1984, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London, son of Mr. Raphael Williamson and Mrs. Adelma Q. Williamson.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and attended military school in Petaluma, Calif. He took pride as a Boarding Team Member while he served in the Joint Harbor Operations Command Center Control Room as an operations specialist in Seattle, Wash. He took special interest in navigation of shipping lanes, vessels, and air traffic control.

Ulysses is survived by his immediate family members, which include his mother, father, and younger sister Hazel, whom he grew up with and trusted dearly. He is also survived by his half-brother, Patrick, and half-sisters, Grace and Donna, and mother’s husband, Andy Bogan.

Ulysses was engaged in many church activities as a youngster and played piano and organ for the church regularly. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and enjoyed helping others. He took pleasure in nature, fishing, and reading political literature and was especially creative and talented in the arts. He was exceptiona­lly proficient in computer systems and technology.

He will be especially remembered for his meekness, patience and selfless ways. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, Oct. 6, at the Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London. A calling hour will be held from 11 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at noon. Burial, with full military honors, will follow the service in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New London.
