Tracking the Bears

• Coast Guard Academy runner Kaitlyn Mooney is enjoying a terrific freshman cross country season so far. She was selected as both the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III National Athlete of the Week and New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week. Mooney is undefeated in 5K races. She won the Saratoga Invitational on Saturday, beating 220 other runners with a winning time in 17 minutes, 7.5 seconds. She had a career-high 20 kills and 11 digs in a 25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 25-21 victory. The Bears are 11-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
