Windsor — Douglas Angelo Del Grosso, 58, of Windsor, beloved husband for 31 years of Cynthia Ann Del Grosso, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, at his home.

Born in New London on June 14, 1959, son of the late Joseph John and Julia Elena (Demicco) Del Grosso, he was raised in New London and was a graduate of New London High School, Class of 1977. After high school, Doug continued his education at Thames Valley Community College in Norwich, where he received an associate’s degree in electrical engineering.

Doug started his career at Emhart Glass as a senior service engineer in Windsor. After 17 years, he left to take a position at Stanley Works in New Britain as a production manager and in 2000, he went to Franklin Products in Torrington as a molding manufacturing manager. Doug loved the family atmosphere that the company fostered. Over his 17-year career with Franklin Products, he held a variety of positions and was currently serving as a plant engineer.

Doug was very proud to be a member of the Windsor Lions Club, where he had served as president and was currently serving as a member of the board of directors. He always looked to help others including his family, co-workers, and members of the community. Doug gave blood regularly at American Red Cross Blood Drives and never missed his appointment to donate.

Most of all, Doug loved spending time with his family, especially his wife and son. Whether it was playing a board game as a family on the weekend or cheering for his son as he ran the Manchester Road Race, Doug never missed a family event or the opportunity to support his wife and son.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Matthew Antonio Del Grosso of Odenton, Md.; two brothers, Darryl Del Grosso and his wife, Ellen, and Daniel Del Grosso and his wife, JoAnn, all of Waterford; two sisters, Diane Holohan and her husband, Tom, of Waterford, and Dale Del Grosso of New London; his father and mother-in-law whom he loved dearly, Tony and Jackie Debonis of Enfield; and his beloved cat, Tigger. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Dean Del Grosso.

His family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, with a memorial service conducted by the Windsor Lions Club at 6:30 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at St. Joseph Church, 1747 Poquonock Ave., Windsor. Burial will be private.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Windsor Lions Club, P.O. Box 55, Windsor, CT 06095 or to donate blood at an American Red Cross Blood Drive in memory of Doug. For online condolences, please visit www.carmonfuneralhome.com.
