East Lyme boys remain unbeaten in ECC Division I soccer
New London — Jack Seibel had two goals and Alec Kosinski added a goal and an assist as the East Lyme High School boys' soccer team downed New London 6-0 on Tuesday to remain unbeaten in Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I.
Riley Carr had two assists for the Vikings (4-2-2, 3-0-1) and Brian Bellandese, Matt Kung and Duncan Manthous all scored.
Giuseppe Conte had nine saves for New London (1-7-1, 1-4). In other games: • Avery Albanese had a goal and two assists as Waterford downed Montville 3-0 in an ECC Division II game. Harold Fowke had a goal and an assist for the Lancers (5-4, 3-2) and Jose Guevara Gomez scored. Also, Alexander Fayan had four saves. Jose Zuniga had six saves for the Indians (3-5-1, 1-3-1).
• Nathan Cherenzia scored in the 75th minute to snap a scoreless tie, leading Norwich Free Academy to a 1-0 win over Fitch in ECC Division I. The Wildcats are 3-5-1, 3-1-1. Fitch is 4-5-1, 2-3.
• Kobie Bates scored three times and Putnam blanked Grasso Tech 5-0. Joel Potter made 16 saves for the Eagles.
• Alfonso Vazquez and Kayden Parilla scord two goals apiece as Windham defeated St. Bernard 4-1 in ECC Division III. Tenzin Jamphel scored for St. Bernard (2-6-1, 2-5-1).
Girls' soccer
• Emnet Miskiewicz and Micheala Evans scored goals leading Norwich Tech/Holy Family to a 2-0 win over Wolcott Tech. Marissa Madra made two saves for Norwich Tech (4-3).
Volleyball
• Jemima Appolon had 15 points and 17 assists as New London defeated Grasso Tech 25-13 25-7 25-6. Marissa Parker had 11 kills, two blocks and 11 points and Natalia Paul had eight kills and five points for Nwe London (2-6).
Field hockey
• Zoe Pearse scored four goals and Maggie O'Leary had three assists as Fitch/Ledyard defeated Killingly 5-1 in the ECC. Devin Lyon also scored for the Falcons (4-5, 3-4), Maci Silvia had an assist and goalie Erin Ritter made 10 saves.
• Molly Quiles had three goals and two assists as Waterford blanked NFA 8-0 in the ECC.
Cassidy Susi had three goals and an assist for the Lancers (6-2, 5-2) and Regan Mazzulli and Chloe McCue both scored. Emily Claspell had 18 saves for NFA (0-7, 0-6).
Swimming
• Elyse Gathy won the 100-meter backstroke (1:14.31) and 200 freestyle (2:26.45) as Waterford downed NFA 100-83 in an ECC meet. Ella Dyjak won the 100 butterfly (1:14.31), Jayne Darras won the 100 freestyle (1:08.62), Viviana Martinez won the 50 freestyle (32.73) and those three teamed with Gathy to win the 200 medley relay (2:27.89) for the Lancers (5-3, 5-3).
Elizabeth Hawkins, Zora LaBonte, Martinez and Dyjak also won the 200 freestyle relay (2:12.20) and Sophia Podeszwa placed first in diving (2:38.99). Elizabeth Graves won the 200 individual medley (2:38.99) for NFA (2-4, 2-3) and Madelyn Bell the 400 freestyle (5:44.70).
Also, NFA's Anna Ciriello bested her own school record in diving (210.20 points).
• Ashwini Sahasrabudhe, a freshman, won the 200 and 500 freestyles and contributed to a victory in the 200 free relay as East Lyme defeated Lyman/Windham 99-64, remaining unbeaten at 7-0 in the ECC.
Other individual winners for East Lyme, which is 8-1 overall, were Hiruni Jayawickreme (200 IM), Alissa Li (50 free), Katie Keating (100 fly) and Josie Provost (100 breaststroke).
