Stonington girls score with one second remaining to beat Montville

Stonington — Megan Detwiler scored with one second left in the second half, giving Stonington a 2-1 win over Montville in an Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division II girls' soccer game on Friday.

Detwiler scored on a scramble in front of the net. Emily Novak also scored, with Noelle Thomas assisting, and Tori Lopresto made five saves for the Bears (2-10-1, 2-5), who were 0-81 in their last nine games.

Alexis Delucia, assisted by Maddie Beaupre, scored for Montville (74, 4-3) and teammate Lauren Ross made five saves. In other games: • Ledyard and East Lyme played to a 1-1 tie in an ECC Division I game. Ledyard, which lost to East Lyme 2-0 on Sept. 18, took the lead on a goal by Lexi LaPerle and East Lyme tied the game on a goal by freshman Caitlin O'Dea.

Hayley Sorrentino made 18 saves for East Lyme (5-5-2, 3-1-1) and Delaney Gagnon made 17 saves for Ledyard (4-6-1, 1-3-1).

• Camryn Werbinski scored three goals Williams School defeated Bancroft 4-0. Grace Powell added a goal and an assist for the Blues (4-2-1) and goalie Olivia Guinan made nine saves.

• Emily Smith scored once in each half as St. Bernard beat Lyman Memorial 2-0 in an ECC Division III game. Lindsay Clement and Sarah Forrester had assists and Briana Beverly made two saves for the Saints (63, 6-2).

• Wheeler lost to Tourtellot­te 8-0 in an ECC Division III game. Savannah Johnson made 15 saves for Wheeler (0-8-1, 0-7).

Boys

• Kesry Louis scored a pair of second-half goals to lead New London to a 3-1 nonleague win over Grasso Tech. Thomas Stachen, assisted by Luis Rodriguez, scored the first goal for the Whalers (2-8-1).

• Waterford rallied for a 2-2 tie with Old Lyme in a nonleague game. Old Lyme took a 2-0 lead on an own goal and a goal by Peter Sherman in the 37th minute. Waterford got an own goal in the 72nd minute and tied the game on a goal by Nicolas Santangelo in the 75th minute. Quinn Romero had an assist and Ryan Tetrault made nine saves for Old Lyme (0-63). Alexander Fayan made five saves for Waterford (6-4-1).

• Jose Guevara Gomez scored once in each half as Waterford beat Woodstock Academy 2-0 in an ECC Division II game on Thursday night. Robbie Negahban and Avery Albanese had assists and Alexander Fayan made eight saves for the Lancers (4-2 Div. II).
