Ledyard boys score goal in final minute to beat Windham 2-1

Ledyard — Trevor Hutchins headed home the game-winning goal off a free kick with 39 seconds remaining to lift Ledyard to a dramatic 2-1 victory over Windham in a nonleague boys' soccer match Monday morning.

Windham (8-1-1) came into the match unbeaten.

Hutchins also assisted on Ian Kamperschr­oer's goal and Nate McCracken added an assist while goalie Ken Turner made eight saves for the Colonels (7-4), who outshot the Whippets 28-24.

Girls' soccer

• Juliette Hogan scored a goal and added an assist in Norwich Free Academy's 2-0 shutout of Waterford. Natalie Dionne opened the scoring in the first half for the Wildcats (8-3). Mary Lang had an assist. Waterford is 5-7.

H.S. volleyball

• Savannah Galluci had 15 assists, five digs, an ace and a kill as Wheeler swept Ledyard 25-17, 25-18, 25-22.

Marisa Mulhearn had six kills, four digs and an ace for Wheeler (5-7) and Nikki Collins had five kills, two aces and two digs.

The Colonels are 6-8.

Women's soccer

• Southern Vermont scored all of its goals in the first half en route to a 3-0 victory over Mitchell College in the New England Collegiate Conference. Jordan Lohneiss made 15 saves for the Mariners (1-8, 0-4).

Southern Vermont is 8-4, 3-1.
