NEW LONDON POLICE ANNOUNCE SPEED ENFORCEMENT CAMPAIGN RESULTS
New London — Police issued more than 1,000 traffic infractions between July 1 and Sept. 5 as part of the department’s 2017 speed enforcement campaign.
The grant-funded campaign is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to reduce deaths and injuries caused by car crashes and other unsafe traffic conditions, according to a release.
During the two-month campaign, officers issued the following infractions, a total of 1,121: Traveling Fast: 536 Driving Too Fast for Conditions: 16 Speeding: 506 Cell Phone Use: 14 Uninsured Vehicles: 13 Driving with a Suspended License: 23 13 Seat belt violations 1 Recovered stolen vehicle 4 narcotics arrests 9 arrest warrants served The New London Police Department asks the public to obey the speed limit and practice safe driving tips within and outside the city.
