Norwich Tech volleyball wins CTC divisional title

Norwich — Norwich Tech wrapped up the Charter Oak Division title with a 25-17, 25-15, 19-25, 25-13 win over Goodwin Tech on Friday in a Connecticu­t Technical Conference volleyball match.

Norwich Tech and Goodwin Tech each entered the match at 8-1 in the COD. Halle Baron had 11 assists and 10 digs, Emily Cherwin had 15 kills and three aces, Riley Riewerts had 10 kills and three aces and Kaitlyn Gifford had 14 assists for Norwich Tech (13-3). In other matches: • Ciarra Jimenez had 10 kills to highlight Fitch's 25-15, 25-3, 25-9 win over New London in an Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division I match. Olivia Carney added 14 assists, Aby Hagley 13 service points and Allison Georgetti 10 service points for the Falcons (9-6,4-1). Madyson Robledo-Ramsay led the Whalers (2-9, 0-4) with 10 digs and five kills.

• Jamie Stevens had 25 assists as East Lyme beat Norwich Free Academy 26-24, 25-11, 25-17 in an ECC Division I match. Sydney Iannantuon­o had eight digs and 15 kills and Madison Bell had four aces and 15 digs for East Lyme (7-5, 4-0). NFA is 5-8, 2-3.

• Old Lyme lost to Haddam-Killingwor­th in a Shoreline Conference match, 25-7, 25-18, 25-20. Natalie Golden had seven digs and Katie Reid had eight assists for Old Lyme (1-13).

• Grasso Tech fell to Goodwin Tech in a CTC match, 25-4, 25-8, 2513. Erin Blake had six digs and two blocks, Ahvyon Evans had six digs, Ariana Gordon had seven digs and Denise Olivero had six digs for Grasso.

H.S. field hockey

• Fitch/Ledyard won its fifth straight, beating Chariho (R.I.) 3-0 in a nonleague game. Zoe Pearse scored all three goals, Lily Johnson had an assist and Erin Ritter made four saves for Fitch/Ledyard (85), which beat NFA 4-0 in an ECC game on Thursday. Maci Silvia and Pearse each scored twice, Ritter had two saves and Maggie O'Leary and Pearse had assists.

Men's soccer

• Manny Balbontin scored a pair of first-half goals as Connecticu­t College beat Endicott 2-0 in a nonleague game. Justin Miranda assisted on both goals and A.J. Marcucci made three saves for Conn (9-1-3).

College volleyball

• Connecticu­t College lost to Bates 25-21, 25-19, 25-12 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference match. Sam Hunter had 17 digs and nine kills, Emma Hewlin had 11 kills and Grace McGee had 30 assists for Conn (10-7, 1-6).

Men's hockey

• Sophomore Alexander Payusov scored three goals as UConn beat American Internatio­nal 6-4 in a nonleague game. Max Kalter, Karl elMir and Wyatt Newpower had goals and Johnny Austin had a pair of assists for UConn.
