Analysis: Coast Guard faces it’s second straight triple-option team, but after trying to defend a Springfield team last week which leads the nation in rushing (435 yards per game), the Bears should have an easier time with Maine Maritime (172.4 yards per game), although that’s not necessarily the case according to coach Bill George. “They all run different versions of it,” George said. “We’re 3-3 and we have to go up to Maine like we’re 0-0.” ... Maine Maritime, coming off a 51-6 loss to MIT, averages 291.2 yards offense per game and gives up 495.6 (353.4 rushing) . ... Coast Guard, meanwhile, will have sophomore Ryan Jones at quarterback for the third straight week due to an injury to starter Ethan Goldcamp. Jones was 16-for-35 last week in 38-7 loss to Springfield, with one touchdown and one interception. He was sacked three times by the Pride, but put together a couple of nice drives in the third quarter, one resulting in a touchdown pass to Darius Adams and one which stalled at the 1-yard-line. George continues to notice the resolve with which Jones competes. “He’s a tough, tough kid,” George said. “You can’t find me a tougher football player on planet earth than Ryan Jones.” ... Coast Guard beat Maine Maritime 36-30 last season in New London, getting an 88-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Chip Crowley. Maine finished with 454 yards offense in that game and Coast Guard 339. Adams led the Bears with eight catches for 103 yards. The Mariners’ last win in the series came in 2014 (13-7). — Vickie Fulkerson
