Ledyard beats East Lyme 2-1 in ECC Division I boys’ soccer

Ledyard — Trevor Hutchins had a goal and an assist as the Ledyard High School boys' soccer team beat East Lyme 2-1 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I game Wednesday.

Hutchins assisted on Chris Charette's goal in the 43rd minute and gave the Colonels (10-5, 4-4) a 2-0 lead with a goal in the 56th minute. Ken Turner made five saves for Ledyard and Ian Kamperschroer assisted on Hutchins' goal.

Conrad French scored, Alec Kosinski had an assist and Sean Heaney made 10 saves for East Lyme (7-5-2, 6-1-1). In other games: • Ethan Rose scored two goals and had two assists as Montville beat Norwich Tech 5-0. Tyler Velazquez and Joey Andrews had a goal and an assist each and Daltyn Butler scored a goal for Montville (5-8-1). Donald Duca made 18 saves for Norwich Tech (3-11-1).

Volleyball

• Old Lyme snapped a five-match losing streak by beating North Branford 25-14, 25-23, 25-22 in the Shoreline Conference. Taylor Thompson had four blocks and six kills, Maddie Cann had six kills and Katie Reid had 11 assists for Old Lyme (2-14, 2-13.)

• Norwich Free Academy beat New London 25-6, 25-9, 25-14 in an ECC Division I match. Jemima Appolon had nine assists, Madyson Robledo Ramsey had 12 digs, Adeliz Cordero nine digs, Yamilka Ramos seven digs and Marissa Parker nine digs, five blocks and six kills for New London (3-10, 0-5).

• Wheeler beat Windham 25-12, 16-25, 25-19, 25-20 in an ECC Division III match. Sarah Spracklin had seven kills, four aces and four digs, Samantha Caster had five digs and nine assists and Nikki Collins had four kills and eight digs for Wheeler (7-9, 2-5).

• Jamie Stevens had 37 assists and eight digs as East Lyme beat Griswold 25-14, 25-19, 25-23. Sydney Iannantuono had six digs and 15 kills, Lauren Imbriaco had seven kills and Madison Bell had 17 digs for East Lyme (10-5).

• Woodstock Academy beat Waterford 25-16, 25-15, 25-13 in an ECC Division II match. Gretchen Dusza had 25 assists and Olivia Pacheco had nine kills for Waterford (10-5, 2-4).

• Olivia Carney and Kailey Morales had 20 assists each as Fitch beat Ledyard 25-23, 25-19, 24-26, 27-25 in an ECC Division I match. Ciarra Jimenez had 15 kills and Aby Hagley had 21 digs for Fitch (10-7, 5-2). Sela Gill had 18 assists and Miranda Chesnut and Maddie Pipech had eight kills each for Ledyard (7-10, 1-5).

• Killingly beat Montville 25-16, 2517, 25-11 in an ECC Division II match. Mackenzie Ullrich had six assists and five digs, Abby Diamantini had nine digs and three aces and Haley Kerwin had three kills and seven digs for Montville (5-11, 1-5).

Girls' soccer

• Morgan McNeil scored the game's only goal off an assist from Kelly Duarte, leading Grasso Tech past Wilcott Tech 1-0. Goalie Cheyla Archer and Dinorah Cruz combined to make 11 saves for the Eagles (3-9-1).
