Groton — Elaine Marie (Spinney) Clendennin, 54, of Quaker Hill, died peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in New London on Nov. 4, 1962, to Reginald Spinney and the late Dorothy (Sutton) Spinney of Groton. Elaine graduated from Fitch Senior High School in 1980.

She worked for Groton Public Schools for more than 20 years, most recently as kitchen manager at Charles Barnum Elementary. A lover of the outdoors, she enjoyed spending time on the beach and in her garden.

In addition to her father, Elaine is survived by her loving husband, Kevin, whom she married on July 4, 2015, at Point O’Woods in Old Lyme; her beloved children, Elisha Moore and her husband, Chris, of Ledyard, Katelyn Clark and her husband, Jeffrey, of Ledyard, Aaron Mumenthale­r and his wife, Cassandra, of Groton; and her stepsons, Conor and Morgan Clendennin of Quaker Hill.

She will be sadly missed by her siblings, Robert Sutton and his wife, Debora, of Waterboro, Maine, Mark Sutton and his wife, Cindy, of Mystic, and Park Spinney and his wife, Dawn, of Groton; as well as her many nieces and nephews.

Elaine’s grandchild­ren, Nathan and Lucas Moore, Jordyn Clark, and her second granddaugh­ter, due later this year, were the greatest lights in her life.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, at Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St., Groton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 63 Old Norwich Road, Quaker Hill. Burial will follow in Star Hill Burying Ground in Groton.
