Groton — Police have charged a New London resident and a Groton resident with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia, stemming from a vehicle stop in a motel parking lot on Tuesday, Groton City police said Wednesday in a news release.
Police arrested Gabrielle Fox, 37, of 2 Union St., Apt. 201, New London, on heroin and drug paraphernalia possession charges. She was released on a $1,000 nonsurety bond.
Police also arrested Raul Negron, 47, of 253 Brandegee Ave., Groton, on the same charges, as well as possession with intent to sell. He was released on a $10,000 nonsurety bond.
Members of the City of Groton Police Department and the Regional Community Enhancement Task Force on Tuesday saw a white Chevrolet Cavalier speeding through the parking lot of a city motel, police said. Police did not identify the motel.
Task Force members stopped the car and identified the passenger as Fox. Fox was found with heroin and drug paraphernalia, police said. She told police she had recently received the heroin from a man named Raul, who remained in his hotel room with more drugs. Investigators knocked on the door and found Negron, according to police.
In talking to investigators, Negron pulled out of his pocket an uncapped hypodermic needle with a brown liquid he identified as heroin, police said. He told investigators he was about to inject it before hearing the knock.
