O’Brien’s much alive and voting Democrat
I read in The Day the other morning that I am dead, “Contested finance, school board races in Stonington,” (Oct. 25). The news of my passing was buried in an article about candidates for office in Stonington.
My fellow Democrats have nominated some highly qualified individuals. My son, Tim, who stepped in to fill my vacancy on the Board of Finance, is seeking another term. Running with him are Danielle Chesebrough, an unaffiliated voter endorsed by the Democrats and Farouk Rajab. Danielle works for the U.N. Global Initiative and Farouk is a general manager for a national hotel chain. For Board of Education we have Candace Anderson, a professional educator, who also stepped in to fill a vacancy and Jack Morehouse, a local businessman whose wife teaches in Stonington.
For constables, we have incumbent Bob Suchy and three newcomers: Joe Trelli, director of youth outreach for the COMO, Deb Norman a local shop owner, and Chris Donahue, who is continuing his family’s tradition of service. Leading this team are my old friend George Crouse and incumbent selectwoman Kate Rotella.
On Nov. 7 I will enthusiastically vote for this great Democratic team as a very much alive voter. John P. O’Brien Stonington
Editor’s note: The Day ran a correction of this error in the print edition and corrected it on theday.com. We were happy to learn Mr. O’Brien is still with us and writing letters.
