Old Lyme — Bob Smith, 70, of 307 Mile Creek Road, Old Lyme, passed away at home on Oct. 29, 2017.

Born in Providence, R.I., he was the son of the late Louis and Margaret Smith. He married the love of his life, Edyse (Katz) Smith, on June 30, 1971.

Besides his wife, Bob is survived by his daughters, Robin Smith of Danielson and Jody Smith, and his granddaugh­ters, Rebecca and Julia of Waterford. He was also a loving brother, uncle, in-law, cousin, and friend to many. His love of family and being known as Grampy, good conversati­on, Red Sox baseball, UConn basketball, music, and reading are his legacies.

Calling hours will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Beckwith Lane, Old Lyme. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2, in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Duck River Cemetery, Old Lyme.

Plainfield — Marie A. McDermott, 76, formerly of Carol Drive, Uncasville, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at Villa Maria Nursing and Rehabilita­tion Community in Plainfield.

Marie was born in Willimanti­c on Dec. 12, 1940, the daughter of the late Charles Rex Sr. and Adele Rajchel Rex. She was the widow of Edward P. McDermott who passed away on July 11, 2006.

Marie worked as a nurse at Windham Hospital and for the State of Connecticu­t at Norwich State Hospital, retiring after 34 years.

She is survived by her sister, Charlotte Koozmitch and her husband, Mike, of Plainfield, her brother, Charles Rex and his wife, Dorothy, of Lisbon, many nieces, nephews and step-grandchild­ren.

Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 12 Ocean Ave., New London, is in charge of arrangemen­ts which are private.

Jewett City — Blanche (Cotnoir) Fraser, 89, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at the Colonial Rehabilita­tion Center in Plainfield. She was born on April 3, 1928, to the late Blanche (Jodoin) and Gerard Cotnoir. She was married to John Fraser, who predecease­d her. Blanche was active within her community and was the first director of the Griswold Senior Citizen Center.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Patti and Janice Ibbison.

Calling hours are from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov 2. A Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Jewett City followed by an interment at Maplewood Cemetery in Norwich.
