Third arrest made in Groton home invasion

Groton — Town police say they charged a 22-year-old local man Monday in connection with an Oct. 4 home invasion at 91 Buddington Road.

Brandon A. Chapman, of 33 Roberts Road, becomes the third person arrested in connection with the incident. He was charged with home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion, first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. Chapman is being held on a $500,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court Tuesday.

Police say they responded to the Buddington Road address where it was reported that two masked men in dark clothing entered the residence with a firearm and a baseball bat.

Police said a women who lived there was struck numerous times with the baseball bat and later brought to Lawrence + Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatenin­g injuries. Police say the other occupants of the residence were held at gunpoint.

According to the residents, the men made off with various gaming systems, an unknown amount of cash, and cellphones.

Police said Chapman was arrested without incident at his residence after police obtained an arrest warrant for him.

Police have already charged a 16-year-old boy and Albert Goss, 25, of Groton, in connection with the incident. Anyone with informatio­n about the case is asked to contact the Groton Town Police Detective Division at (860) 441-6712.
