The Day

Francis Maynard Jr.

-

New London — Francis “Frankie” R. Maynard Jr., formally of Oneco, entered into holy eternity on Nov. 25, 2017, at the age of 63.

Frank was born to wonderful parents, Jean D. Maynard and Francis R. Maynard, on Feb. 13, 1954, in New London. He was one of six children. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother, Donald W. Maynard of New London.

Francis went to school at the Little Red Schoolhouse in New London.

Francis moved to Oneco, where he lived until he fell terminally ill, then moved back to New London to be with his sister, Debra White-Maynard and her wife, Elizabeth “Tiger” Maynard-White, his brother, Robert, and his sister, Doris Maynard, who survive him. Francis is also survived by brothers Ronald Maynard of Storrs and Randy Maynard of Groton.

Francis was a very loving man and would do everything in his power to make people happy. When asked, Francis’ one wish in his life was “To Make Everyone Happy.” These simple four words meant so much to this man, but not to the world. He often gave this advice to family members: “You only have one chance. Make it count.”

Francis loved baseball and was a big fan and regularly attended Connecticut Tigers’ games at Dodd Stadium with friends. With the help of Center of Hospice Care and American Ambulance, he received his Sentimental Journey this fall to go onto the Dodd Stadium field and sit in the home dugout. He treasured the memory until his passing.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at the Sterling Hill Baptist Church, 548 Sterling Hill Road, Sterling.

Donations in Francis’ memory may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360.
