Coast Guard men beat Fisher 81-75 for third straight win

Lynn, Mass. — Sophomore Jason Frazer scored a career-high 18 points, one of five Bears players in double figures, as Coast Guard Academy won its third straight game with an 81-75 victory over Fisher College in a non-conference men's basketball game Thursday night.

Frazer, making his first career start, was 7 of 10 from the field.

Freshman J.T. Cox had a season-high 13 points for Coast Guard (3-1) while sophomores Packy Witkowski and Justin Kane added 13 apiece and classmate Noah Baldez finished with 12 points. Witkowski also had seven rebounds and five assists.

"We demonstrat­ed a lot of determinat­ion in this win," Coast Guard coach Kevin Jaskiewicz said. "We beat a very good team on the road. I am very proud of our effort."

The Bears went 30-for-37 from the line (81.1 percent) as Baldez was a perfect 10-for-10 and Cox made 9 of 10. In other games: • Junior David Labossiere scored 27 points as Connecticu­t College rolled to a 77-67 win over St. Joseph's (N.Y.) in Patchogue, N.Y.

Phil Leotsakos added 18 points for the Camels (4-2) while Dan Draffan finished with 17 points and Patrick Lazor had eight rebounds.

• Jacee Hamelin had 22 points and eight assists to lead Avery Point to an 82-71 victory over Ben Franklin in Groton. Tyrel Martinez had a double-double for the Pointers (11 points, 10 rebounds) while Elijah Malboeuf Boyd added 22 points and five rebounds and Steven Fletcher had 16 points ans six assists.

Women's basketball

• Navy Prep cruised to a 108-62 win over Avery Point in Groton. Tatyana LaFrance Boyce led the Pointers with 23 points.
