New London — Sophomore Packy Witkowski had a game-high 27 points and classmate Justin Kane tied his career highs with 20 points and a game-high 14 rebounds as Coast Guard snapped a 10-game losing streak in the series against host Connecticut College with an 84-69 win in a nonleague men's basketball game on Sunday.

It was the Bears first win over Conn since a 73-60 in the 2009-10 season at the Manhattanville Tournament. Coast Guard is off to a 4-1 start for the second time in three years while the Camels drop to 4-3.

Witkowski was 5-of-8 from 3-point range and was 11-of-16 from the floor. It was the second double-double of the season and fifth of his career for Kane. Noah Baldez added 13 points and Bryce Schroeder scored a season-high 11 points for Coast Guard.

Coast Guard led 49-44 at the half and both teams were slugglish to start the second half as Coast Guard scored the first five points before Conn knocked down a pair of free throws with 15:04 left for its first points of the half as the Bears led 54-46. The Camels cut the deficit to 58-55 with 11:27 left before the Bears used a 12-5 run capped on a 3-pointer by Witkowski to push the lead to 70-60 with 5:29 remaining and Coast Guard held on.

"Coast Guard is an excellent team, and they did a great job today," said head coach Tom Satran. "We couldn't finish enough plays in the second half to keep us closer and give us a chance at the end."

Junior David Labossiere was the only player for Conn to score in double figures, finishing with 26 points. Freshman Dan Draffan contributed nine points and seven boards, while sophomore Jason Bird finished with five points, three assists, two blocks and one steal for the Camels.
