New London — Douglas M. Greene, 55, of New London, born on Oct. 18, 1962, entered eternal life peacefully on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, surrounded by his family.

He was born in New London, to the late Joan B. and Gordon P. Greene.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 40 years, Peggy S. Greene; and their three daughters and spouses, Mandy (Greene) Mims and Lavelle Mims, Jennifer (Greene) Dyment and Thomas Dyment Jr., Stacy Greene and Quinci Hill; six grandchildren who he loved dearly, Douglas and Desmond Greene, Thomas III and Tegan Dyment and Mitsue and Aaliyah Mims; Douglas is also survived by his sister, Lori Greene; and niece, Kelly Hillman; mother-in-law, Gay A. Everett; and three brothersin-law, Richard Goss, Jesse Brown and William Brown.

Douglas had the best sense of humor and loved joking around. He lived for his family. He enjoyed the water, fishing, fairs and attending all of his grandsons’ sporting events. The greatest time of his life was being able to travel to Washington state with his daughter, Stacy, to watch his first grandson, Douglas, play in the Waterford Babe Ruth World Series. He was the proudest man alive knowing that he is the one who taught three of his grandsons sports starting at age 2 in the backyard swinging the bat and throwing the baseball. He taught Desmond to pitch, who became the best pitcher. He taught Thomas lll to become aggressive in basketball and taught Tegan how to fish. These kids brought so much happiness and light to him, he never missed games and was always saying he’s so spoiled by his grandsons and their passion and talent in sports. He proudly traveled all over the place to every game cheering them on. Douglas played sports as a kid. He loved baseball and recieved many trophies because of his achievements. If you asked him, he would tell you he was the luckiest man alive and proud of his family.

Douglas is survived by a big loving family that will never forget the special moments each of them had with him. He will be greatly missed by everyone he has encountered in life.

Services will be taken care of by Abbey Cremation in Rocky Hill and will be private.
