Uncasville — Freida May Buck, 81, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Freida was born Jan. 18, 1936, in Scranton, Pa., to her parents, Edward J. and Anna (Rapp) Krample. As a young adult in the 1950s, she moved to Fairfield where she met her first husband, Allen DeCecco. There they married and had two beautiful children, Cynthia Ann and Christopher Allen DeCecco. They resided in Uncasville from the ’60s until the mid ’70s, when Freida moved to Groton. There she owned and operated the famous Appy’s Restaurant on Thames Street, where she met her second husband, Joseph A. Buck Jr.

After Appy’s, Freida continued to live in Groton and became a companion and house manager for Mrs. Marshall Field of Southport, until Mrs. Field’s death in 1994. Freida then returned to Scranton in 2006, to take loving and exceptional care of her brother, Edward (Skip) Krample, and her sister, Ruth A. Henn. Freida then came back home to Uncasville to be with her family in 2011.

Freida was the Queen of Christmas Eve, a master cribbage player and the original hostess with the mostess. She adored gathering with her friends and family and cooking meals beyond compare. She loved having a hearty laugh, listening to music and drinking a good Bacardi cocktail. Freida was a loyal member of the Montville Union Baptist Church and loved her congregation deeply. Most of all, Freida was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin and friend. She has left an imprint on this world with her powerful, bright, unapologetic soul and will be remembered by all who crossed her path.

Freida is survived by her two children, Christopher A. DeCecco and his wife, Kipp, of Uncasville, and Cynthia A. (DeCecco) Gimbert and her husband, Albert, of Preston; her sisters, Alice K. Morrissey of Fairfield and Lois D’Oria of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; her six grandchildren, Lauriann (Yovino) Hary, Lawrence Yovino Jr., Sarah DeCecco, Michael DeCecco, Allison Gimbert and Rebecca (Gimbert) Tetreault. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, Matthew, Lily, Cameron, Michael and Landon, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Freida was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Anna Krample, and siblings, Edward (Skip) J. Krample Jr., Robert T. Krample, Frederick Leibold and Ruth Henn.

At this time, there will be no public services. Instead, at her request, there will be a celebration of her life to be held at a later date and time.
