Old Saybrook — Amelia Nocera Cart, of Old Saybrook, died on Dec. 18, 2017, at Connecticu­t Hospice after a long illness.

She was born on Dec. 29, 1937, in Middletown, the daughter of Frank Nocera and Jenny Faraci Nocera.

Amelia was the successful business owner of Highland Hall Manor and Briarcliff Manor Residentia­l Care Facilities.

Amelia is survived by her daughters, Robin Ucich and her husband, Stephen, of Old Saybrook; and Jody Young and her husband, Mark, of Westbrook; brother, Frank Nocera of Ivoryton; sister, Violet DeLano of Westbrook; grandchild­ren, Rebecca and Michaela Ucich and Devon and Alexandria Young. She was predecease­d by her brotherin-law, James DeLano.

Amelia lived most of her life in Essex, living her later years in Westbrook and Old Saybrook. Amelia’s pride and joy was to spend time with her daughters and their families, particular­ly her grandchild­ren, taking them on many vacations!! Amelia will be greatly missed and happily remembered, especially for her over-the-top Christmas parties.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, at Swan Funeral Home, 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 21, in St. John Church, Main St., Old Saybrook.
