Veronica Lempicki

Old Lyme — Veronica Sobolewski Lempicki, 89, of Old Lyme, passed away Dec. 16, 2017, at her home.

She was lovingly known as Vera, Mom, Grandma, Gram, Gummy, Gigi and Grammy by those in her life.

Born in New Britain, Vera was predeceased by her husband, Ted, and sister, Helen Chotner. She is survived by her brother, Stanley Sobolewski; her children, Katherine Shaughnessy (Ray), Peter Lempicki (Kathy), Susan Sanders (Tucker) and Carol Whitley (Mike); her grandchildren, Jessica, Devon, Kaitlin, Nikki, Chris, David S., David W., Brendan, Jillian and Kylie; as well as six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends that she considered family. She loved being a part of their lives and will be missed. Vera worked almost 30 years at the A&P in Old Lyme, and enjoyed seeing all her neighbors and customers that went through her line. She loved playing cards with her friends and going to the casino. She was an avid UConn Women’s Basketball fan and a lifelong Yankees fan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, in Christ The King Church, McCurdy Road, Old Lyme.
