Old Lyme — Veronica Sobolewski Lempicki, 89, of Old Lyme, passed away Dec. 16, 2017, at her home.

She was lovingly known as Vera, Mom, Grandma, Gram, Gummy, Gigi and Grammy by those in her life.

Born in New Britain, Vera was predecease­d by her husband, Ted, and sister, Helen Chotner. She is survived by her brother, Stanley Sobolewski; her children, Katherine Shaughness­y (Ray), Peter Lempicki (Kathy), Susan Sanders (Tucker) and Carol Whitley (Mike); her grandchild­ren, Jessica, Devon, Kaitlin, Nikki, Chris, David S., David W., Brendan, Jillian and Kylie; as well as six great-grandchild­ren, nieces, nephews and many friends that she considered family. She loved being a part of their lives and will be missed. Vera worked almost 30 years at the A&P in Old Lyme, and enjoyed seeing all her neighbors and customers that went through her line. She loved playing cards with her friends and going to the casino. She was an avid UConn Women’s Basketball fan and a lifelong Yankees fan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, in Christ The King Church, McCurdy Road, Old Lyme.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Vera’s memory to the The Lymes’ Senior Center located at 26 Townwoods Road, Old Lyme, CT 06371 or The SBF Animal Rescue located at 96 Swimming Hole Road, Harwinton, CT 06791.
