My Hart will go on

- — Mary Biekert

Kevin Hart will be returning to the region Saturday — this time not for birthday parties at Foxwoods or impromptu shows at the Garde, but for a full-fledged comedy routine that, if history is likely to repeat itself, will be a sold-out event.

It was July when Hart was last here, making a stop in New London to test out some new comedic material in a show that was executed to a T. If that performance was any indication of what's to come, then rest assured, this one will also be hilarious.

We can't help but wonder, though, what with Hart's recent confession of an affair and all, whether he will keep much of the material that he tested in July's performance. His strong suits often hinge on portraying the banalities of domestic life and weaving them into a hilarious long-form story, and in July, a lot that act revolved around jokes of abandoning his wife in life-threating situations. That sounds pretty disheartening reading it in print, sure, but Hart performed those riffs with lighthearted hilarity. Considering what we know now, though, would that same humor still fly? We're going to guess that he probably had to change most of his act in wake of the scandal, making it less likely for those who saw the show in July to get a repeat. Show up Satuday to find out.

Kevin Hart, 8 p.m., Saturday, Mohegan Sun Arena; $79-$155; 1-800-745-3000.
