Ostrowski scores 43 as East Lyme wins Bristol Central tourney

Bristol — Dev Ostrowski erupted for 43 points as East Lyme captured the Bristol Central Holiday tournament championsh­ip with an 83-75 boys' basketball victory over the host Rams on Saturday night.

Ostrowski, a junior, was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.

JR Gandenberg­er added 12 points for the unbeaten Vikings (4-0) and joined Ostrowski on the all-tournament team. East Lyme made 12 3-pointers. In other games: • Hunter Baillargeo­n scored 24 points, leading St. Bernard to a 65-54 win over Berlin in the Fitch Holiday Tournament championsh­ip game. Baillargeo­n scored 11 of his points in the first quarter as the Saints (5-0) took a 23-10 lead. Connor Svab had 10 points for St. Bernard. Fitch (1-4) defeated Capital Prep 82-49 in the consolatio­n game.

• John Domijan had 17 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots as Montville won its first game with a 72-42 non-conference win over Putnam. Eric Beavin added 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Indians (1-4) while Gennaro Davis scored 12 points and Ryan Champagne finished with 12 points and four steals.

• Wheeler lost to Prout of Wakefield, R.I., 80-25. Ryan Condon and Clayton Carini scored six points each for Wheeler (1-5).

• New London's home opener against New Britain was postponed due to a heating issue at the school, coach Craig Parker said. The Whalers are scheduled to play Hartford Public at home at 1 p.m. Saturday. The game was originally scheduled for a 6 p.m. start, but moved to an earlier time because of the threat of snow.

Girls' basketball

• Freshman Amy Pinch scored a career-high 16 points, including three 3-pointers, as Waterford rolled to a 62-26 win over Fitch. Bekah Sanders added 12 rebounds for the Lancers (42) and Julianna Bonilla finished with seven points and five steals. Francesca Foster scored 10 points for the Falcons (0-6).

• Windsor rallied from a 26-19 halftime deficit to defeat Ledyard 52-28 in the consolatio­n game of the Centaur Holiday Classic at Woodstock Academy. Sarah Serbascewi­cz, who was namd to the all-tournament team, led the Colonels (3-3) with 16 points and Tajeah Winston added nine.

• Wheeler gave Windham at battle until the Whippets pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 47-37 Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division III win. The Lions (2-4, 0-3) trailed by only one after three, 33-32, before Windham outscored them 14-5 in the final eight minutes. Emma Morgan led Wheeler with 12 points.

• Putnam improved to 5-1 with a 56-37 non-conference win over St. Bernard. Emily Nelson scored 14 points to lead the Saints (2-4) while Lindsay Clement added 13.

• Norwich Tech lost to Parish Hill in a nonleague game, 55-11. Kalli Campbell led Norwich Tech (0-4) with six points.

Wrestling

• Fitch's Jarod Kosman captured the 120-pound championsh­ip at the prestigiou­s George Bossi Lowel Holiday tournament, a two-day event in Lowell, Mass. Kosman went 6-0 with three pins and earned an 18-7 major decision over Riley Millette of Windham (N.H.) in the final. Kosman's teammate, Dakota Grover (220), also reached the final before losing to Andrew Marshall of Lincoln Sudbury (Mass.) 5-4. Grover won his first five matches.
