Groton Regional Theatre, Ivoryton, Granite hold auditions

Groton Regional Theatre will hold open auditions for its April production of “A Streetcar Named Desire” 1-4 p.m. Sunday and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Groton Senior Center.

There are roles for six men and five women. The male characters are in their 20s to 30s, one is a late teenager, and one is 40-60. The female characters are in their 20s to 30s, with several older roles. All roles are open to the public.

GRT is also seeking production staff, including assistance with set constructi­on, painting, sewing, props, hair and make-up, and backstage work. Anyone interested in helping may stop in at auditions or email hvpanciera@aol.com. Performanc­es are scheduled for April 6-8, 1315, and 20 and 21.

On Monday, the Ivoryton Playhouse will hold auditions for local actors to participat­e in its Second Annual Women Playwright­s Initiative.

The auditions will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Ivoryton Playhouse Administra­tive Offices, 22 Main St., Centerbroo­k. It’s an open casting call; no appointmen­ts are necessary.

Starting on Feb. 25, actors will work with a director and writer on a new play in a workshop setting and on March 2 and 3 will perform a staged reading for the public. There are a limited number of roles available, and the theater is looking for women and men ages 30 to 60 and up, all ethnicitie­s. The Granite Theatre in Westerly will hold auditions at 7 p.m. Jan. 15 and 16 for two of its upcoming shows. The first is Frederick Knott’s “Dial M for Murder,” which will run March 23-April 8. The director is Brian Olsen. The production needs two men and one woman in their 30s-40s and three men 30s-50s.

David Auburn’s “Proof” runs April 27-May 12, and David Jepson is directing. To be cast: roles for two women, mid-20s to mid-30s, one man, late 20s-mid-30s.
