East Lyme girls rally to defeat Coginchaug in OT

Durham — Sophie Dubreuil scored 27 points, including seven in overtime, as East Lyme rallied for a 60-56 non-conference girls' basketball victory over Coginchaug on Wednesday night.

The Vikings (7-2) rallied from the seven-point deficit after three quarters. In overtime, Dubreuil was also 5-for-5 from the foul line.

Megan Bauman added 22 points for East Lyme and Katie Durkee had 11.In other games:

• Julia Lavin had 20 points and seven rebounds as Ledyard downed Berlin 52-47. Sarah Serbascewi­cz led the Colonels (4-3) with 23 points.

• Skyla Wesolowski scored 14 points as Tourtellot­te downed Grasso Tech 60-16. Morgan McNeil had 12 points for Grasso (0-6) and Samarie Delgado had five blocks and five rebounds.

Boys' basketball

• Jalen Benson had 21 points, six steals and six rebounds and Edwardo Gonzalez scored 27 as New London downed Weaver 76-68.

Isaiah Benson had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Whalers (3-1) and DeVonte Wrighten added eight points and 10 rebounds.

• Zach Scott had four 3-pointers and 19 points as Stonington scored 53 in the second half to beat Killingly 70-59 in its Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division II opener. The Bears trailed 25-17y at halftime. Lennox Deer had 15 points and six rebounds for Stonington (3-4, 1-0) and RJ Parrilla had 10 points and 11 assists.

• Aidan Miller scored 11 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter, including a game-winning 3-pointer with 13 seconds left, as Norwich Free Academy edged East Hartford, 6359, to remain unbeaten. The Wildcats outscored East Hartford 21-12 in the fourth quarter. Brenden Sholes had a game-high 23 points for NFA (4-0). Jaylin Palmer scored 15 for the Hornets.

• Scott Pion had a double-double, 12 points and 12 rebounds, to highlight Wheeler's 55-45 non-conference win over Ellis Tech. Clayton Carini led the Lions (2-5) with 15 points while Ian Spracklin added 14 points and Bowen Baker had 13 rebounds.

Women's basketball

• Micaela Martinelli had 18 points and five rebounds as Coast Guard Academy scored 39 of the game's first 41 points in its 88-26 rout of Mount Holyoke in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference game. It was the program's second-largest victory, falling just shot of the Bears' 77-9 win over York of New York in 1995. Zoe Riis-Fallica's 3-pointer gave Coast Guard a 39-2 lead over the Lyons with seven minutes, 12 seconds left in the second quarter. Riis-Fallica had 13 points, six rebounds and four steals for the Bears (5-6, 2-2) and reserve Brenna Farrington had 11 points and seven rebounds. Leah Hodges scored 12 for Mount Holyoke (0-10, 0-4).

Men's basketball

• Geoffrey Gray had 22 points and 16 rebounds as Emerson snapped Coast Guard's eight-game winning streak with an 86-79 win in the NEWMAC opener for both teams. Michael Sheng had 13 points for Emerson (7-5, 1-0). Noah Baldez scored a career-high 24 for the Bears (8-2, 0-1) and Justin Kane had 16 points and six rebounds.

H.S. wrestling

• Class S champions Noah Caskey (132) and Sam Kury (152) were five of seven Montville wrestlers to win by pin in its 58-15 rout of Lyman Memorial/Windham Tech in an ECC Division III match.

Derek Debbis (108), Jayden Colon (119), Sawyer Kury (138), Ian Andersen (147), and Caleb Forehand (170) were the others who won by pin for the Indians (10-2, 2-0).

• NFA improved to 5-6 with a 59-14 victory over Bacon Academy. Dominic Renfree (120), Nate Jean (145), Laura D'Elia (152) and Kamren Snodgrass (220) had pins for the Wildcats. NFA also accepted four forfeits.

• Killingly recorded six pins en route to a 51-18 victory over Ledyard. Joey Millbach (113) and Richard Mullaney (285) had pins for the Colonels (6-5).
