East Lyme-NFA boys’ hoop among today’s postponeme­nts

The Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division I boys' basketball opener between unbeatens East Lyme and Norwich Free Academy is among Friday games that have already been postponed due to Thursday's snowstorm.

There is no make-up date yet for the Vikings-Wildcats game. Both teams are 4-0. The girls' game between those two schools was also postponed indefinite­ly.

The Windham-St. Bernard boys' and girls' basketball games were also postponed. The Montville boys will play at Woodstock Academy on Jan. 29 (7 p.m.), while the Montville girls will play host to Woodstock that same night and time.

Among the other postponeme­nts are Putnam at Wheeler girls' basketball, Jan. 8, 6 p.m.; East Lyme at Waterford boys' swimming, TBA; and New London at Windham/RHAM/Coventry boys' swimming, TBA.

Some school districts will wait until today to make a decision on their events.

Boys' basketball

• Montville rode a dominant third quarter to a 78-59 win over Lyman Memorial on Wednesday. Eric Beavin, who finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds, scored 12 points in the third quarter when the Indians (2-4) outscored the Bulldogs 30-13. John Domijan finished with 22 points and 23 rebounds (14 offensive) for Montville while Zach Southard finished with 12 points and Ethan McKinney scored 11.

Girls' basketball

• North Branford handed Old Lyme its first loss of the season, 46-43, in Wednesday's Shoreline Conference game. North Branford is 5-1. Audrey Gavin had 13 points and Jordan Lewis and Emma McCulloch both scored eight for the Wildcats (4-1).

Wrestling

• Waterford lost to Windham on Wednesday night, 39-27. Jake Gannotti (182 pounds), Logan Gerovitz (195), Jack Lange (138) and Luther Wade (160) had pins for Waterford (4-4) and teammate Logan Smith (106) also won his match.

Girls' fencing

• Fitch swept a tri-meet in epee on Wednesday, beating NFA and Woodstock behind Julia Zieminski's score of 25. NFA beat Waterford. In foil, Fitch, NFA and Waterford each went 1-1. Lauren Rusk of Fitch had the high score with 28.

Boys' fencing

• Fitch swept a tri-meet against NFA and Waterford in epee and foil on Wednesday. NFA beat Waterford in each event. Fitch's Ron Pfistere had a high score of 27 in epee and teammate Camden Mason had a high score of 30 in foil.
