Waterford — Norma Anderson passed away on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Bridebrook Nursing Home in East Lyme, after a short illness.

Born Sept. 9, 1931, in West Haven, she was the daughter of the late Carl W. Carlson and Ellen B. Carlson. She was raised in West Haven, graduating from Washington Grammar School and West Haven High School in 1949. She was also a graduate of New Haven Business College.

She married John E. Anderson of Waterford, on Sept. 19,1953, at the First Lutheran Church of West Haven. After marrying John, she moved to the Mago Point, Waterford area and has resided here for 64 years. John passed away in 2003.

Her working career began in New Haven where she was employed at Stern-Merrit Co. on Olive Street for several years. Here in Waterford, she worked for the Hedden Insurance Co. and the accounting firm of Johnson and Williams. She also worked for Suburban Propane Gas Company for six years when it was located in Niantic.

She was a member of the Mago Point Beach Associatio­n and one-time treasurer. Also a member of the Waterford Senior Center, she enjoyed traveling, cooking, entertaini­ng, card playing, bingo, boating and fishing, gardening and making ceramics.

She is survived by her nephew, Keith Anderson of Deltona, Fla.; her niece, Gail Anderson of Grace, Idaho; as well as many cousins in both the United States and Sweden.

There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2018, in Jordan Cemetery in Waterford.

The Thomas L. Neilan Funeral & Sons Funeral Home are taking care of the arrangemen­ts.
