Groton — Kenneth H. Beauchamp, 90, of Groton, passed on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, after succumbing to a valiant battle with Parkinson’s disease for years. He was surrounded by family.

Born on June 12, 1927, he was the beloved husband of Ethel T. (Beckwith) Beauchamp and the youngest son of the late Charles Arthur Beauchamp and Charlotte (Smith) Beauchamp.

In 1946, Ken married his childhood sweetheart, the love of his life, Ethel. The two lived throughout southeastern Connecticut, always together for over 71 years.

Ken was a proud builder of submarines with Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics Corporation, serving departments 242 and 247 for 39 years. As a lover of animals, Ken spent time outside on the farm. The chickens he raised often won awards at local fairs. Ken will be remembered as a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. His work ethic, strength, story-telling and never failing sense of humor will not be forgotten.

Ken will always be profoundly missed by his wife; Ken and Ethel’s daughter, Connie (Beauchamp) VanLew and her husband, Allan; their granddaughter, Lisa (VanLew) Cooney and her husband, Brian; and their grandson, Allan VanLew and his wife, Amber. In addition, Ken leaves three great-grandchildren, Avery, Tyler and Sawyer; and numerous extended family members who love Ken so much.

Ken was predeceased by his son, Charles Arthur; as well as his brother, Walter Beauchamp; and sisters, Bessie Happel and Grace Musante, all of whom Ken absolutely adored.

The family thanks all who showed love, care and kindness to Ken.

At their request, services will be private.
